About the Author

Robert has been involved in bushwalking since he was 13, being able to wander off on his own with his Corgi dog as a companion  at what is now known as Illawong. In 1980 he moved his family to Colo Vale near  Mittagong, where he necame enthralled with the potential of the Nattai Valley for explorative bush walking. In 1988 he cleared and marked  a 50km walking route from Mittagong down this valley to Beloon Pass; then  inaugarated and lead the first Katoomba to Mittagong Bi Centennial Walk. After successfully leading some 100 walkers along the track during 1988/89 he decided to publish a the Ensign barrallier Guide Book, now in its 3rd revised edition.
In 1992 Robert sponsored the southern Highland Bushwalking Club that is still active. Robert now lives in the village of Thirlmere, from which he is still researching and clearing walking tracks for his publications.
